Presently, all homes in England and Wales marketed for sale need a Home Information Pack (HIP), which includes a home energy rating. The Pack includes an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which provides an Energy Efficiency Rating and Environmental Impact Rating for the property. The report also contains advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills.
In addition, from 1st October 2008, all residential properties marketed for rent will also require an EPC.
